Biceps, usually, are the most noticeable muscles of all and thus, everyone strives to build attractive biceps. However, to target them in one particular way could be challenging because most exercises have their own different ways to target muscles. So, in case you are looking to develop attractive biceps with a high peak, knowing a basic anatomy of this body part is very important.

Basic Anatomy of Biceps

Biceps Brachii

Biceps brachii is a two headed muscle in the upper arm that makes the most of the bulk of the upper anterior arm. The heads are called the long head and the short head. The long head of the biceps is on the lateral side of the arm that lies close to the lateral head of the triceps. While short head of the biceps is situated on the medial side.


Brachialis muscle lies underneath the biceps and adds thickness to the arm.


Most of the part of brachioradialis lies in the forearm and contributes to its size.

Preacher Curls

The very famous preacher curls also give you a high peak as they primarily hit the long head of it. Studies show that the long head lies beneath the bulk of biceps muscle. Preacher curl hits the long head which in turn pushes your bicep upwards and gives it a well defined peak. Incorporate preacher curls in your regular bicep workout to gain attractive high peak bicep muscles.

Incline Dumbbell Curls – Best Bicep Workout

Dumbbell curls yet again work great on overall biceps but if you are specifically trying to get a high peak bicep, a couple of extra sets of incline dumbbell curls would put you at an advantage. This exercise develop fully biceps belly with a peak.

Reverse Curls – Brachialis Bicep Exercise

This is one of the most overlooked and underestimated exercise among bodybuilders. The reason is evident that it does not primarily work on your biceps. It targets the brachialis muscle. But then why has this exercise found a way to this article. The reason is that this exercise develops brachialis and brachialis lies beneath the bicep muscles. A developed brachialis pushes the biceps up and give it a good height.
